Pasig City, having the land area of 31 sq. km. and a population of 617,301(as of 2007) is a city municipality of Metro Manila in the Philippines and was formerly a capital of the Rizal province. It is bounded by the Marikina City on the North, the municipalities of Cainta and Taytay, Rizal on the East, the cities of Quezon and Mandaluyong on the West, and the cities of Makati and Taguig and municipality of Pateros on the South.
Pasig, created by Augustinians in 1572, is one of the oldest towns in the Philippines and now classified as highly urbanized city. Having numerous high-rise office buildings, residential condominiums, commercial establishments, schools and malls and hosts most of the Ortigas Center, Metro Manila's second most important Philippine financial district-cum-central business district, makes it the second largest business district in the country.
It has 30 barangays, namely, Bagong Ilog, Bagong Katipunan, Bambang, Buting, Caniogan, Dela Paz, Kalawaan, Kapasigan, Kapitolyo, Malinao, Manggahan, Maybunga, Oranbo, Palatiw, Pinagbuhatan, Pineda, Rosario, Sagad, San Antonio, San Joaquin, San Jose, San Miguel, San Nicolas, Sta. Cruz, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Rosa, Sto. Tomas, Santolan, Sumilang and Ugong.
